Hope that there may be survivors after the Helicopter carrying Iran’s president dimmed Monday morning after Iranian Red Crescent informed it has located the wreckage.
The head of Iran’s Red Crescent, Pir Hossein Kolivand, told state TV that there were “No signs of life’ detected at crash site.
Iranian state TV said images from the site showed the helicopter had crashed into a mountain peak.
Images published by state media including the Fars news agency shared drone images of what appeared to be the burnt out wreckage of the helicopter.
President Ebrahim Raisi’s helicopter had gone down in the fog-shrouded mountain area of Azerbaijan on Sunday night.
Apart from the 63-year-old president, the helicopter was also carrying the Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and others in East Azerbaijan province, reports said.
