OLYMPICS 2024: DAY MOROCCO AND ARGENTINA SET NEW RECORD IN FOOTBALL

Analysts call it the Olympics’ most chaotic football match ever. But truly, it was a record in chaos and fit for Olympic history.

The day was Wednesday at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium in Saint-Etienne. It was match day one in the men’s football event involving Argentina and Morocco.

Ordinarily, football pundits have given Argentina the edge in the match, but it was Morocco who stunned the Argentines with a 2-1 lead in the first half.

By regulation time, the Moroccans were ready to run with their victory until an additional 15 minutes was added at the end of the game.

Argentina scored an equaliser at the 106th minute.

All hell was let lose as Moroccan fans invaded the pitch, even as VAR was yet to rule on the goal.

Eventually, play was held up for two hours, the first in history. At the end, the goal was ruled out due to a marginal offside two hours later and the two teams were called to resume play after two hours!

Three minutes later, the dramatic match ended in favour of Morocco.
