World record holder Tobi Amusan, on Friday morning crashed out of the Paris Olympics.
Amusan came 3rd in the second heat of the 100m hurdles held at the Stade de France Stadium.
Only two athletes qualified from the heat. She could not also make it into the finals as one of the fastest losers.
In the same vein, Nigeria’s 4×400m men team got disqualified on Friday although they finished second in their heat in the Semi Finals.
The men team were disqualified for crossing into another athletes lane.
On Thursday both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay teams failed to qualify for the final.
In the men’s heat 1, the Nigerian quartet of Favour Ashe, Kanyinsola Ajayi, Alaba Akintola, and Usheoritse Itsekiri finished 7th with a Season’s Best of 38.20s, behind South Africa (37.94s) and the USA (37.47s).
In the women’s heat 2, the Nigerian team of Justina Eyakpobeyan, Favour Ofili, Rosemary Chukwuma, and Tima Godbless finished 6th with a Season’s Best of 42.70s, missing out on both an automatic and fastest losers spot.
Long jump hopeful Ese Brume also failed to click on her event on Thursday as she finished fifth, just two positions below the medals’ belt.
Ese who won Bronze in Tokyo 2020 jumped 6.70m far from other competitors.
Ruth Usoro who jumped a distance of 6.58m finished 10th while Prestina Ochonogor’s leap of 6.24m put her 12th.
Earlier in the day, Folashade Rafiatu Lawal almost got a medal but fell short in the Women’s 59kg Weightlifting event.
Lawal who achieved a personal best in the Clean and Jerk category, smashing her previous record by 5kg, finished up 5th with a total lift of 230kg.
