The Association of Nigeria Movie Directors (ANMD) has bestowed Nation-Building Honours on the President Association of Movie Practitioners (AMPrac) and distinguished member of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Mr. Ifeanyi Azodo.
The professional yet colourful event held last Saturday, October 26th at Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, and was part of programmes to mark the 2024 annual convention of ANMD, a respectable professional body of film and video directors.
A letter addressed to Ifeanyi Azodo and signed by the President Association of Nigeria Movie Directors, Barr. Kenneth Ibeanusi, sighted by this reporter, announced the award conferment.
Part of the letter read “After due consideration on your great contribution to the development of the Nollywood movies industry, we believe you deserve to be honoured as a NOLLYWOOD AMBASSADOR through our nollywood nation builders award.”
At the well-attended occasion, Hon. Stanley Ifeanyi Ogbuewu, honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Ebonyi State, had the privilege of bestowing the award honours on Comrade Ifeanyi Azodo.
Speaking to newsmen after the event, the elated awardee, Ifeanyi Azodo noted that he was impressed with the way the event was handled.
Azodo a respected industry flag-bearer emphasized, “As movie makers, we are one people regardless of specialities and affiliations.
“We should learn to love one another, and work together as a united team to successfully contribute our individual quota towards re-building our dear nation” he concluded.
It may be recalled that Comrade Ifeanyi Azodo had only just recently, launched the Nollywood Reform Project under the Association of Movie Practitioners, to help correct perceived anormalies in the industry.
Azodo has also been reported to be an active frontliner in various high profile campaigns for the growth and development of filmmaking and its practitioners in Nigeria.
Other highlights of the occasion included the induction into the body, of newly professionally certified directors.
