SUPER EAGLES DRAW 1-1 WITH BENIN REPUBLIC, QUALIFY FOR AFCON 2025

Nigeria’s Super Eagles forced their Benin Republic counterparts to a 1-1 draw in their AFCON 2025 qualifying match played on Thursday night at Abidjan, Vote d’Ivoire.

Benin Republic had stunned the Super Eagles with an early goal in the 14th minute through Mohamed Tijani, but they were unable to see out what would have been a second victory over the Super Eagles in 2024.

However, Galatasaray stri ker and Eagles goal machine, Victor Osimhen salvaged the situation with his goal in the 81 minute of the game.

The Galatasaray striker, who missed the October international break, glanced home substitute Moses Simon’s cross with around nine minutes of normal time remaining.

With the result, Nigeria has qualified for the 2025 AFCON finals with one game to spare. Libya beat Rwanda 1-0 in Kigali in the other Group D match also played on Thursday.
