EDO QUEENS ROMP INTO CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEMI FINALS; BOOT OUT DEFENDING CHAMPIONS 2-1

Edo Queens of Nigeria on Saturday defeated CAF Women’s Champions League title holders Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies’ 2-1 to secure a semi-finals place in the tournament. The match was played at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

Mamelodi Sundown Ladies struck first in the 24th minute through Melinda Kgadiete thanks to a Karabo Dlamini assist and held onto the lead until the slender lead until the dying moments of the match before Emem Essien’s equaliser in the added time.

The Queens returned again in six minutes to stamp their authority when Mary Mamudu struck to seal the victory at 2-1.

In the other Group B fixture on Saturday, fellow debutants FC Masar of Egypt beat Central Bank of Ethiopia in their final group match to successfully book their place in the semi-finals.

FC Masar will face AS FAR while Edo Queens will take on TP Mazembe for the semi-finals of the competition set to take place on Tuesday, 19 November.
