Former Director General of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu has condemned the inhuman treatment meted to a young boy at Christ Mitot School, Isawo in Ikorodu, Lagos.
In a statement on Wednesday, Onaiwu who said he was disturbed and saddened by the brutal abuse and heinous act, stated that the incident was unacceptable and warrants immediate attention from the Lagos State Government and its agencies
While commending the courage of those who brought this incident to light, Onaiwu asked the authorities to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

“I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the horrific video circulating online, showcasing the brutal abuse of a young boy, a ward of a widow, at Christ Mitot School, Isawo in Ikorodu, Lagos. The footage depicts a teacher mercilessly hitting the child in the head while attempting to teach him how to write.
This heinous act is unacceptable and warrants immediate attention from the Lagos State Government and its agencies. I strongly condemn this terrible and horrible act, and I urge the authorities to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to justice.
Furthermore, I call on the Lagos State Government to provide necessary support and protection to the young victim, ensuring his safety and well-being. It is our collective responsibility to safeguard the rights and dignity of our children, particularly those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged.
As a nation, we must recognize that the education sector should be a sanctuary for our children’s growth and development, not a breeding ground for abuse and violence. I implore the Lagos State Government to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future, including providing training and resources for educators to promote a safe and nurturing learning environment.
I commend the courage of those who brought this incident to light and urge anyone with information about similar cases to speak out. Together, we can create a society that values and protects the well-being of all its citizens, especially our children.
