Secretary General of Confederation of African Audiovisual Professionals CAAP, Mr. Madu C Chikwendu has said that movies matter because amongst other things, they guarantee immortality.
The frontline Filmmaker and Administrator declared this in his welcome address at the inauguration of Imo State chapter of Guild of Elite Motion Picture Creators GEMPC at Owerri Imo State South East Nigeria.
Mr.Chikwendu who doubles as Chairman of GEMPC Board of Trustees stated that ‘The arts captures your image , utterances , writings and has the capacity to preserve them for eternity . This is why famous religious , political and even unknown individuals continue to live with us .. simply because they have been captured in film , sculpture ,Literature and other artistic forms ‘
In his paper “POLEMIC AGAINST THE 7TH ART AS CLAP AND DANCE , Madu C Chikwendu further opined that ;Film should be considered the most important human activity not merely because it is both an art and a science but also because of its wide ranging contributions to humanity by ; documenting our history and culture , it’s well chronicled prophetic capacity , didactism , social commentary , premier position as a form of human expression and finally the humongous economic impact “.
The Imo State chapter of GEMPC was inaugurated at a crowded ceremony at Rockview Hotel Owerri.
