Many contractors heaved a sigh of relief at the weekend following the approval of the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for the upward review of more than 20 ongoing projects.
The approval came on the heels of the consent by the State Executive Council (Exco) at uts maiden meeting for 2025 which was held in Government House, Asaba on Thursday.
The contractors had been upbeat on how to continue the projects as a result of the spiralling rising cost of materials. Many expressed inability to source for additional funding as the cost differential was not captured in the contract award.
Following the approval by the Exco, most of the contractors have expressed readiness to return to site and rapidly complete their projects.
This is more so because they are assumed of speedy payment as Governor Oborevwori had set a standard of paying for jobs with certificates of completion.
