The organizing committee for the 3rd African Indigenous Language Film Festival (AILFF’25), has announce a call for submissions for this year’s festival.
Scheduled to take place in Nigeria from October 8th to 11th, 2025, the festival which is in it’s 3rd edition, invites filmmakers from Africa and the diaspora to submit their works under the theme “Threads of Culture: Weaving Inclusion Through Filmmaking.”
Criteria for submissions include:
-Films must predominantly feature African indigenous languages, with English, French, or Portuguese subtitles required. Additionally, films on the subject of Down Syndrome are welcome from all regions of the globe, provided they are subtitled in English, French, or Portuguese.
-All genres are welcome, including feature films, shorts, documentaries, and animations.
– Submissions should align with the festival’s theme of inclusion, cultural preservation, or innovative indigenous storytelling.
– Special consideration will be given to narratives highlighting the experiences of individuals with Down Syndrome.
Selected films will have the opportunity to:
– Participate in engaging screenings and Q&A sessions with an international audience.
– Join panel discussions and workshops led by film experts, disability advocates, and cultural custodians.
– Network with industry leaders and organizations that champion inclusive storytelling.
– Amplify silenced voices and influence the future of African cinema.
