LOVE NIGERIA REGARDLESS OF WHO IS IN POWER

By Shehu Bashir Esq.

Nigeria is a great country. There is no doubt about that. The manifestation of its greatness may be delayed by the reoccurring poor governance. That does not still make anyone to rate the country low, speak bad of the nation and right off the people.

Therefore, at any given time of our progressive phase, notwithstanding the current challenges that we face in slow economic growth, rampant insecurity, and precarious political tension, we are incompetent as citizens to write off the country or try to violently illegally rebel against the constituted authority.

The growth of a nation requires “community partnership” between those in government and we the general public. We cannot possibly grow a nation where we lose hope in that same nation. Hope and faith come as fertilizer, they help in increasing the productivity level if the soil.

The joy of Nigeria must be everyone’s joy. If the downturn of Nigeria truly depresses you, her upturn should excite you as well.

However, if your sentiment or opinion, for or against the government is based on the occupant of the seat of the C-in-C, which makes you ignore any such success recorded by the administration, then, you are not a true Nigerian and you do not love Nigeria.

You are just a marauding scavenger, looking for opportunities to have your pockets filled with political perquisite. You are an economic street sweeper.

If you are in that category, who only praises the country when your team player is in the seat, when other people are talking about patriotism to a nation, seal your lips in cellophane, you are not worthy of your citizenship.

Nigeria’s greatness can come and should come from anybody without any political sentiment in our alignment. If the love of the nation is the main goal, no citizen should hate the government and the success of such government.

Therefore, if you are one of those who is refusing to appreciate the successes recorded in the last months by the administration of President Tinubu, especially on the outright repayment of the country’s outstanding debt with IMF and now Sukuk, for whatever is the reason for your dejection, you should be ashamed of yourself for being gullible in your sentiments.

On this note, I want to congratulate Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and the good people of Nigeria on the successful liquidation of the IMF Covid loan, we are indeed grateful for the President’s foresight to lessen the financial burden on the country. This is a good steps moving forward.

As we move further to break more grounds, Nigerians are confident and optimistic that their hopes will continue to be renewed, Amin.

So, love Nigeria, regardless of who is in power, it is the right thing to do.
