The 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, will begin today in Morocco.
The tournament held by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will kick off after the opening ceremonies today July 5, 2025, and come to a close with the grand finale slated for July 26, 2025.
The WAFCON 2025 will feature 12 qualified nations battling it out across three formidable groups. The 12 participating teams are: Morocco (hosts), South Africa (defending champions), Nigeria, Algeria, Botswana, DR Congo, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zambia.
Hosts Morocco will kindle the fireworks against Zambia at the newly built Olympic Stadium in Rabat today, while defending champions, South Africa, will begin their title defense on July 7, facing Ghana in a Group C opener.
Nine-time winners, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, are expected to start their campaign on July 6 against Tunisia in Casablanca. The Super Falcons will be battling to lift the trophy for the 10th time.
