OSINBAJO, DAPO ABIODUN, SANWO-OLU, OTHERS PRESENT AS AWUJALE IS BURIED IN IJEBU ODE

The remains of the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has been laid to rest.

Oba Adetona was buried on Monday at his private residence in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic rites.

The interment which was conducted by the Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Sheikh Muftaudeen Ayanbadejo, had Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Ogun governors Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, businessman Aliko Dangote, and Fuji artist Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, in attendance.

The private ceremony, was also attended by members of the royal family, high chiefs of the Ijebu Traditional Council, and several political and cultural figures.

Oba Adetona, who began his reign in 1960 at the age of 26, served on the throne for over 60 years, making him one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers. He was 91 years old.
