BUHARI LAID TO REST IN DAURA (PHOTOS)

The remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday afternoon, at a London clinic, was on Tuesday, laid to rest in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, in accordance with Islamic rites.

The state funeral, had President Bola Ahmed Tinubu leading the mourning. Also present, was Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice Presidents Yemi Osinbajo and Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, former governors Aminu Bello Masari (Katsina), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), former Senate President Ahmad Lawan and Ali Modu Sheriff (Borno), a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party among others.

Buhari’s body arrived the Musa Yar’Adua International Airport, Katsina from London on Tuesday afternoon accompanied by members of his family as well as a Federal Government delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The body was subsequently moved in a motorcade to Daura, where it was interred after Muslim prayers.

Buhari, a retired Major General of the Nigerian Army has led the country as a military Head of state between 1984 and 1985. He was to return as civilian President twice, 2015-2019 and 2019 to 2023.
