It’s the Diamond Anniversary of Akoko Akuma, son of the “Mother of Hakeem”.
Today I reflect on our humble beginnings, in Igbemo Ekiti when we used to follow our Dad – (The Noble Teacher – Roy Jamiu) to Primary school as toddlers.
Then it was time for us to relocate to Ado Ekiti at No. 19 Community Centre, Opposite Ekiti State Stadium Circa 1975.
I remember the times we shared together as bachelors in Ota, Ogun State, Alagbole, Akute and when you got married and it was time to be independent.

Today we rise, in voices true,
To honour one both wise and due—
Rt. Hon. Dr. Hakeem Jamiu,
A name the winds of truth pursue.
In halls where duty calls the bold,
You stand with purpose, firm and gold.
A beacon in the civic storm,
Where honor takes its truest form.
Your words—like rivers—calm, profound,
Have shaped the laws that hold us sound.
Yet more than law, your heart imparts
The steady pulse of people’s hearts.
For Ekiti, you bear the flame,
A steward rich in thought and name.
Through trials faced with tempered grace,
You march ahead—a guiding face.
A scholar’s mind, a leader’s soul,
Integrity your lasting goal.
In service, you’ve not sought renown,
Yet earned, in full, the people’s crown.
So on this day of birth and cheer,
We pause to celebrate your year—
With gratitude, respect, and pride,
For all the light you’ve not denied.
May wisdom deepen, strength renew,
As time unfolds its path for you.
And may your days in purpose grow,
Like rivers that forever flow.
