ROTARY CLUBS OF IKEJA, EGBA OKE- ONA DONATE EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO OVER 500 STUDENTS IN OGUN STATE

The foremost club in Rotary International District 9111, Rotary Club of Ikeja has teamed up with Rotary Club of Egba Oke -Ona to donate educational materials to over 500 students in five secondary schools and one primary school in Abeoukuta, Ogun State.

The schools that benefited from the initiative which was part of activities marking Rotary International Basic Education and Literacy Month in this month are Lishabi Grammar School, Nawarudeen Grammar School, Wasimi Comprehensive High School, Premier Grammar School , Catholic Comprehensive High School and Abeoukuta North Local Government Primary School, Idiya.

The donation of the materials which include uniforms, school bags, socks, sandals, and exercise books to Learners took place at Abeoukuta North Local Government Primary School Idiya, while libraries of the five benefiting secondary schools were equipped with books.

Speaking at the presentation of Rotary Club-funded textbooks to the management of Premier Grammar School, Abeokuta—a government-designated flagship school in Ogun State, the President of Rotary Club of Ikeja, Rotarian Lanre Lawal commended teachers and parents across Nigeria for their unwavering dedication to shaping the nation’s future leaders.

Rotarian Lawal said, “I commend the commitment of teachers, principals, and parents who continue to mould future leaders. We are proud to partner with you and also celebrate a significant milestone in our commitment to empowering young minds. We hope that this initiative would strengthen community capacity to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparities in education, and promote adult literacy.’’

According to the President of Rotary Club of Egba Oke Ona, Rotarian Tolulope Omoniyi, “Our donation embodies Rotary’s belief in the transformative power of education.”

The National President of the Premier Grammar School Old Students’ Association (PREGSOSA), Alhaji Kabir Ayinla Omosanya described the donation of the materials by the Rotary clubs as timely, commendable and visionary.

He added, “At this time when the reading culture in our society is sadly in decline, we are sure that this gesture would rekindle hope, revive interest in learning, and provide young minds with the resources to broaden their horizon.

‘’Your kind gesture will go a long way in enriching the academic lives of our students and improving teaching and learning in our classrooms. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to the growth and development of education in our community.’’
