As the world commemorated the World Polio Day recently, foremost Rotary Club in Rotary International District 9111, Rotary Club of Ikeja joined the global campaign to sustain a polio- free world with the End Polio Immunization programme which took place at the Isolo Community Center, Rotary Road, Isolo Lagos.
The programme was attended by over fifty mothers who brought their children for immunization as well as members of the club.
Speaking at the event, the President of the club, Rotarian Lanre Lawal said the club was committed to joining other clubs around the world to make the world a polio-free one.
She said, ‘’As you are aware, Rotary International is at the forefront in eradicating polio and making this world a polio-free one. At Rotary Club of Ikeja, we are as passionate about this cause as other Rotary clubs in the world.
‘’We are here in our community to sensitize the mothers about the importance of immunizing their children, especially from age zero to five years old. In addition, we have also carried out immunization exercise and we are very grateful to the health personnel as well as mothers who have trooped out to benefit from this exercise.”
