ONAIWU CALLS FOR CLOSURE OF ALL PRIVATE SCHOOLS ATTENDED BY CHILDREN OF POLITICAL ELITES

Former Director General of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu has called on the Federal Government to immediately order the closure of all private schools attended by the children of Nigeria’s political elite, insisting that it is unjust and unacceptable for such schools to remain open while 47 Federal Unity Colleges across the nation remain closed.

Onaiwu described the situation as a clear symbol of inequality and insensitivity in governance. He stressed that leaders cannot keep their own children in safe, functioning schools while the children of ordinary Nigerians are left at home due to national challenges affecting the education sector.

According to him, if the education of millions of Nigerian children has been halted, then the children of those in positions of authority should not continue to enjoy uninterrupted academic access. “Why should the schools of the political elite remain open while 47 federal unity colleges across this nation are closed?” he asked.

He added that leaders must feel the impact of the system they supervise in order to take responsibility and act with urgency. He further stated that the temporary closure of elite private schools would create the necessary pressure for swift reforms, fairness, and accountability.

Onaiwu called for equality in decision making, stating that the welfare and education of all Nigerian children must be treated as a national priority. He urged the government to take immediate action to show Nigerians that leadership understands their concerns and is ready to lead by example.
