The Global President of the Annunciation Catholic College Old Boys Association, Irrua, Dr. Joseph Ohens, has been listed among illustrious awardees at the 2025 Association of Esan Professionals, AEP, End of Year party and awards gala in Lagos.

According to the nomination letter signed by the association’s President, Dr. Henry Egbiki and sighted by Thebladengr, Dr. Ohens will be awarded at the ceremony which will hold at the Muson Center, Onikan, Lagos on Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Part of the citation for the award reveals that Dr. Ohens who was elected as the Global President of ACCIOBA earlier in the year, had a few years back, organized illustrious old boys of his alma mater, Annunciation Catholic College, Irrua, Edo State, to pull together $1.5 Million (N1.7 Billion) to undertake gigantic infrastructural projects in the school. The projects include: Four ultra-modern student hostels, Reconstructed School Library, Five-bedroom Principal’s House, Six-bedroom, all-ensuite Corpers’ Lodge, Renovated School Chapel, A Concreted Road on campus, An ultra-modern 20-bed shool-based medical center, An eight-bedroom, all-ensuite medical center staff quarters, School Water Scheme, and a New Gate.

Outside his contributions to the development of infrastructure, Dr. Ohens supports several students in the school on his personal scholarship.

His philanthropic gestures also extend to his hometown of Opoji in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, where he sunk two boreholes to supply water to his people. The difficulty and high cost of sinking boreholes in that part of Edo State and the significance of the water scheme to his people make its execution and completion a turning point in the community.

Interestingly, this is not the first time honors have been bestowed on Dr. Ohens as he has earned recognition, home and abroad for his philanthropic work, community service and Leadership. He is a proud recipient of the ‘Africa Courage Award for Community Development’ bestowed on him in Almere, The Netherlands by the Voice Achievers Awards. He was also recently conferred with Rotary International’s ‘Excellence In Community Development Award’ from the Rotary Club of Akowonjo under the Rotary International, District 9110.
