NEW ZEALAND BEATS NORWAY IN FEMALE WORLD CUP OPENNER IN AUCKLAND

The New Zealand women’s national football team on Thursday, opened their account at the 2023 FIFA women’s World Cup with a 1-0 win against Norway.

It was New Zealand’s first ever win at the female mundial. Although New Zealand has played at the FIFA Women’s World Cup on six occasions in 1991, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, they have never won a game or advanced beyond the group stage.

The 32-team world cup is hosted by New Zealand and Australia. Nigeria’s Super Falcons will open their campaign on Friday morning against Canada.
