BREAKING! NIGERIA’S SUPER FALCONS ENDS IT 0-0 WITH CANADA AT 2023 WOMEN’S WORLD CUP

11-time African champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, commenced their campaign at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in a brilliant style on Friday morning.

The Canadians easily dominated the first 20 minutes of play, but the Super Falcons made a superb showing in the first half with Assisat Oshoala almost on the score sheet with her strike.

Although the game ended in a barren draw, the biggest moment was when Super Falcons goal keeper Chiamaka Nnadozie saved a penalty taken by Canadian legend Christine Sinclair in the 47th minute of the game after she was fouled by Nigeria’s Ordega in the penalty box.

Sinclair is among the legends of the FIFA Women’s World Cup having played in six world cup tournaments.

Nigeria also got a red card in the 98th minute but the Super Falcons held on till the last minute.

The Super Falcons who faced the reigning Olympic champions, in their Group B encounter, in Melbourne Australia, will play Australia on Thursday July 27 in their second group game.

Nigeria, Canada and Republic of Ireland are drawn in Group B with hosts Australia. Australia on Thursday grabbed their first 3-points after they beat Republic of Ireland 1-0 in the group’s opener.
