NIGERIA’S AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE, IBRAHIM KAYODE LARO IS DEAD

Nigeria’s ambassador to France, Ibrahim Kayode Laro, is dead.

Laro reportedly died on Friday, August 11, 2023 after a brief illness.

His passage was confirmed by Rafiu Ajakaiye, the Chief press secretary to the Kwara State Governor in a statement on behalf of the government and people of Kwara.

According to the statement, Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRasak lamented  that the death of the topflight career diplomat was one sad event too many, and urged the family to find comfort in his legacies as a statesman and his contributions to human capital development in Nigeria and Kwara State.

Ambassador Kayode Laro, a graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University had a career in the Nigerian Foreign Service spanning 35 years from December 1983 – December 2018, serving in various capacities at home and abroad.

A former Consul General to the United States, he also served in the Nigerian missions to the United Nations in New York and Geneva.

He retired from the Foreign Service, in 2018 buy was recalled to active service by former President Muhammadu Buhari who sent him to France as Ambassador in July 2020.
