The attention of the National Executive Council of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, has been drawn to the news in some dailies concerning a law suit filed at the Federal High Court, Umuahia Judicial Division, Abia State by some disgruntled members led by one David Amalaha over a court judgment which has been implemented since 2017 in Enugu State.
NEC viewed this action as a blatant display of ignorance, gross affront to decency, and a desperate attempt to tarnish the image of our noble Guild.
Their ultimate aim is to drag the reputation of the Guild and its leadership in the mud to advance their interests in all forms of illegality.
How can you meddle into a matter that is subjudice; or media trial and or conviction before trial? They are too ignorant to reason.
The National President, Dr. Ejezie Emeka Rollas, MON, will not be swayed by baseless allegations and personal attacks, he is a man of substance, integrity with leadership quality that inspires confidence.
Dr. Rollas has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the growth and development of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. His leadership and vision has inspired many members and NEC will not stand by and watch his reputation maligned by those who seek to brew crisis in the guild so as to thrive from their illegality.
The purported news is baseless, offensive and a slap in the face of justice as the matter has just been filed in Court.
However, the Guild has assembled a legal team led by Prof. Hagler Okorie to respond to the frivolous suit which is dead on arrival as filed against the Guild.
Our lawyers will deal with such unnecessary distraction which the suit is intended to constitute on the Guild.
As usual they will be disappointed again. AGN will never be part of any arrangement to disobey a lawful order issued by a court of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria. This is because as a product of the law, we are bound to respect any order or judgment emanating from any Court in Nigeria.
The Guild comprehensively complied with the spirit and contents of the order inquestion for which Amalaha and his co-travelers went to court to litigate and their major witness, St. Maradona Paul Mcvine is a major beneficiary in the implementation of the judgement.
Be that as it may, we vehemently condemn the divisive tactics and attempts to tarnish the reputation of noble Guild as there is no crisis in AGN.
We urge members to ignore the news as the matter shall soon be thrown into the trash can of history where it rightly belongs.
Thank you
Signed
Alhaji Abubakar Yakubu
National Secretary
Actors Guild of Nigeria
