ABIA AGN MEMBER ASKS COURT TO REMOVE EMEKA ROLLAS AS NATIONAL PRESIDENT

A member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Abia State chapter, David Amalaha, has approached the Abia State Federal High Court in Umuahia, seeking for an order of court to set aside the election approved by the board of trustees members of the Guild which elected Ejezie Emeka Rollas and his executives as the National President.

In a suit no HC/UM/CS/92/2025 Amalaha prayed the court to order Rollas and his executives to stop parading themselves as the National Executives of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.

He also prayed the court to order all monies withdrawn from the account of Actors Guild of Nigeria since 2019 till date by the defendant be returned to the bank account of the Actors Guild of Nigeria or refund the sum of N50m as general damages.

Speaking on why the suit was instituted against Rollas, AGN Project director in the state MrNwoko Nathaniel Udo-Chika, said.

Rollas has refused to work with duly elected executives of the guild in Abia State, adding he went out of way to appoint some of his cronies to lead the guild in the state.

According him “some time ago an election was conducted and members of the Abia AGN executive led by David Onyebuchi Amalaha were elected but Emeka has been a distraction to them which has brought the state chapter to its knees.

“It’s been from one court action to another, in the course of this we discovered that Justice J.T Tsoho of Federal High Court Lagos while delivering judgement on suit No FHC/L/734/13 on March 20, 2015 held that the tenure of the Board of trustees of the Actors Guild of Nigeria compromising Prince Ifeanyi Dike, Emmanuel Oguguah, Murphy Stephen, Sunny MC Don and Okey Anthony (Okeybakassi)had expired.

“Now we want the court to interpret to us if Rollas should continue to act as President of Actors Guild of Nigeria when those that appointed him have all been sacked by a Court as BoT members.

“Rollas has blatantly defied court order to vacate the seat as president and anything done against the court of law is null and void since those who brought him as President of the guild aren’t even registered members.

“He even went further to register new members while suspending some without any regard to the constitution which he even tried to amend if not for stiff resistance from the guild.

Reacting in a telephone interview with South East Punch,Rollas confirmed that he was aware of the law suit, adding that his lawyers had been handling the matter on his behalf.

He said, “I’m very much aware of the law suit and our lawyers are handling it.People who got into power through illegal means are dragging the guild to court. The judgement they claimed was delivered in 2015 has been handled and the BOT was dissolved reconstituted and we have moved on.

“These group of people in Abia because they came into office without the supervision of the national body and we said you cannot be leaders in AGN without following the due process and they went to court and we defeated them, they now went and brought a judgment that we have already implemented in the past”.
