PIONEER SURVEYOR GENERAL OF OGUN STATE, OLATUNDE ODUWOLE DIES AT 96

Alhaji Olatunde Ganiu Oduwole, the last Surveyor General of the defunct Western States of Nigeria and the pioneer Surveyor General of Ogun State, is dead.

A statement released by the Olatunde Oduwole Foundation, said the sad event took place on Sunday 6th July,2025. He was 96years.

Alhaji Oduwole who was also the first Seriki Musulumi Ita Ogbin community, will be buried today, Monday 7th July, 2025 at his Igbeba,Ijebu Ode residence, at 2pm according to Islamic Injunctions.

A native of Ijebu Ode, the late Surveyor Oduwole, was born on Friday, December 1928. He attended a Quaranic school and later went to St. John School, Ijebu waterside for his primary school education, before proceeding to Ijebu Ode Grammar School for his secondary education.

He obtained a degree in Mathematics and Physics from the University College, and upon graduation settled for a promising career in Surveying which took him to the peak of his career as Surveyor General of the defunct Western Region. He went on to become the first Surveyor General of Ogun State when the state was newly-created in 1976.
