Former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, was on Friday, crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan.
Ladoja was crowned at a colorful ceremony at Mapo Hall. He wore a white crown bestowed on him at the Ose Meji Temple in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state where the coronation rites were performed.
Governor Seyi Makinde presented the staff of office to the new Olubadan at the coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall attended by several dignitaries including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Oba Ladoja succeeds late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, the 43rd Olubadan, who joined his ancestors on July 7, 2025 after reigning for one year.
The ceremony also had the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Ghandi Adeoye; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale and Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, are among traditional rulers in attendance.
Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was represented by one of his Queens, Olori Ashley.
Also on ground are former Ogun Governors, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Olagunsoye (Osun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).
