President Bola Tinubu on Friday evening, held an inaugural meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja
Earlier on Friday, Tinubu had fired the two Service Chiefs of the Navy and the Airforce. The President had retained General Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Army Staff. He also elevated Oluyede from his role as Chief of Army Staff to Chief of Defence Staff.
Tinubu also appointed Major-General W. Shaibu to replace Oluyede as new Chief of Army Staff. He also named Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke as new Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas got the position of Chief of Naval Staff.
The president charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them to further enhance the professionalism, vigilance and comradeship that define the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
