On March 9, 2026, the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos served as the vibrant backdrop for the official signing of the Hosting Agreement for the fifth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2027). The ceremony formalized Nigeria’s role as host of this landmark continental event, scheduled for November 5–11, 2027, in Lagos.

The occasion drew high-profile African leaders and representatives, including Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (Chairperson of the IATF2027 Advisory Council), Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Afreximbank President Dr. George Elombi, AfCFTA Secretary-General Wamkele Mene (represented at the event), and African Union Commissioner for Economic Development, Trade, Tourism, Industry and Minerals H.E. Francisca Tatchouop Belobe.

Adding a powerful infusion of national pride and artistic flair, the National Troupe of Nigeria—led by Hajia Kaltume Bulama Gana fsna—delivered an electrifying cultural performance. Their colorful, high-energy display of Nigeria’s diverse heritage featured dynamic dances, music, and traditional elements that enthralled the assembled dignitaries, earning enthusiastic applause and underscoring the cultural richness that complements Africa’s economic integration efforts under the AfCFTA framework.
The performance not only elevated the ceremony’s atmosphere but also symbolized Nigeria’s commitment to blending heritage with its pivotal role in driving intra-African trade and investment through IATF2027, building on the success of previous editions and aiming to surpass the record US$49.94 billion in deals generated at IATF2023 in Algeria.
