Registration for the 2026 edition of the African Indigenous Language Film Festival (AILFF), scheduled to hold in Parakou, Benin Republic, from July 22 to 25, has officially closed as organisers enter the final phase of preparations.
Founder of AILFF, Osezua Stephen-Imobhio, announced that he will be travelling to Parakou in the coming days to conclude arrangements and finalize critical logistics, including venue preparations, accommodation options, transportation plans, and delegate services.

The festival has attracted participants from across Africa and beyond. The majority of registered delegates are from Nigeria and include filmmakers, film marketers and distributors, film scholars, film enthusiasts, cultural advocates, tourists, and other stakeholders in the creative industry.
Organisers also revealed that film practitioners and creative professionals in Benin Republic are looking forward to collaborating with visiting delegates through networking, partnership, and co-production opportunities.
In addition to Nigeria, registrations and expressions of interest have been received from Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Pakistan, highlighting the festival’s growing international profile.
A major highlight of AILFF 2026 will be its focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and filmmaking. Participants will benefit from practical workshops covering AI applications in concept development, scriptwriting, production, post-production, marketing, distribution, audience development, and film monetization.
Recognising the importance of expanding the global reach of indigenous language films, the festival will also host workshops on translation, subtitling, dubbing, and content localisation for international audiences.
Other activities include Drone Piloting Workshops, cultural tours, networking events, and other experiences designed to make participants’ stay in Parakou both productive and memorable.
In line with its commitment to the growth and global competitiveness of African cinema, AILFF announced that its major capacity-building workshops will be offered free of charge.
Additional information on accommodation, transportation, venue logistics, and festival activities will be released in the coming weeks.
With its unique blend of indigenous storytelling, technology, capacity building, and international networking, AILFF 2026 is set to become a landmark event for African filmmakers and creative professionals.
