The commissioning of a newly reconstructed modern theatre Pharmacy at Federal Medical center Asaba marks a significant milestone in the advancement of healthcare services within the hospital and it’s environment
This transformative initiative, led by the Managing Director of FMC, Asaba Dr. Ekeneem Omo, in partnership with Fidson Healthcare PLC, thereby advancing Health care through partnership reflects a steadfast commitment to improving medical infrastructure and enhancing access to quality healthcare for residents.
Speaking during the MD’s birthday celebration, Dr.Ekeneem expressed joy on the completion of the project commending Fidson Healthcare PLC for their commitments in investing in Federal Medical center Asaba.
He said, “This stands as a testament to visionary leadership, collaboration, and progress. It symbolizes hope, resilience, and a brighter future for the hospital. And as the theater Pharmacy begins operations, it will undoubtedly play a vital role in saving lives and improving the overall quality of healthcare FMC and I look forward to many other cooperate organizations coming to do the same Fidson did for us”.
” Like the name portrays, it’s a theater Pharmacy that is next door to the theater and the drugs especially consumables that will be sold inside, are the drugs to be used at the theater.
He added that, the advantage of having a theater Pharmacy very close or within the theater, is because it will enable the doctors or patients access drugs during emergency hours at the theater.
He said, the pharmacy will serve the theater and it’s environ including other theaters that are within the hospital premises..
According to him, the hospital use to have small size theater Pharmacy before now, that can’t contain all the drugs needed and it’s not as big as what we have on this project, But today, this is a complete threater pharmacy with all the drugs and items needed at the theater well arranged and accessable for the patients.
And with this new Theater Pharmacy, if a particular drug is needed they know where to find it and m it will speedy get to the patient. “Most of the drugs are FMC drugs because we are partnership with Fidson Nigeria, we will also sell their drugs in the theater Pharmacy and we expect that more of their products will be supplied to the theater Pharmacy” he stressed.
“And more of their products we sell, they also make more profits to their company that is why we are partnering with them”.
According to him, there is need for corporate organisations to invest in healthcare because it serves as a cornerstone of sustainable development. He reiterated his dedication to initiatives that uplift the well-being of citizens, highlighting that accessible and reliable healthcare is essential for a thriving and productive society.
Speaking with the Commercial Director, FIDSON Healthcare PLC, Pharm Ola Ijimakin, he said partnering with FMC Asaba to reconstruct the new theater Pharmacy is one of the best move made by our company.
And the only thing that we can do to support the hospital and healthcare system is to make sure we supply every drugs related to their theater from our company.
According to him, inside the pharmacy most of the items are drugs related to the theater and pharmacy also, we have rest place for the pharmacists and internal office where our staff comes to checkmate on the drugs needed and the ones to be supplied to the theater.
He added, we will keep coming to maintain the pharmacy and if there are certain things that needs to be done, our company will ensure that the theater Pharmacy is working 24 hours and adequate drugs are available for the hospital theater usage, he stressed.
