With two consecutive loses in the group stages, European representatives, Turkey and their North American counterparts Haiti have become the first two nations to be eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Haiti had lost 1-0 against European side Scotland in their group opener and succumbed 3-0 to Brazil in the second game.
The result left them with zero points after two Group C matches, guaranteeing they cannot progress to the Round of 32 stage.
Similarly, Turkey have crashed out of this year’s World Cup after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Paraguay.
The South Americans took the lead after just 64 seconds when midfielder Matías Galarza fired in from outside the area to score the fastest goal so far in this tournament, which turned out to be the match-winner.
With the loss, Vincenzo Montella’s side can no longer advance from the group stage and are out of the tournament, having also lost their first group fixture against Australia.
