AKWA IBOM JOB SEEKER INI UMOREN BURIED AS AKPABIO, JOURNALIST FIGHT DIRTY

The remains of murdered Akwa Ibom job-seeker, Iniubong Ephraim Umoren, have been buried.

Ini was interred on Friday at her father’s compound in Nung Ita village in Orok Anam Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State.

The 26-year-old, who graduated from the Department of Philosophy, University of Uyo, with a CGPA of 4.12, was raped and brutally killed after a man lured her on social media with a fake job interview.

Ini had gone online on April 27, to appeal for the job, but she fell into the hands of a rapist and murderer, who took her life.

Meanwhile, independent investigative journalist, David Hundeyin and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, are battling each other over Ini’s death.

Hundeyin had made series of tweets and other online publications suggesting Akpabio and his wife played a part in the rape and eventual death of the 26-year- old Iniobong Umoren.

Hundeyin had alleged that Davok Hotel located at 58, G Unit also recognised as plot S9, Unit G, Ewet Housing, Estate, Uyo which was used by the suspect(s) for their nefarious activities is owned by Akpabio’s wife.

But Akpabio in his reaction through his lawyer, Otobong Inyang Esq, has written to Hundeyin, demanding retraction of a news publication and an apology within 14 days failing which he would take legal action. According to Akpabio’s letter, plot S9, Unit G, Ewet Housing, Estate, Uyo was not owned by his wife, among other issues.

Rather than apologise, Hundeyin has remained defiant. He has asked for authorisation to Airtel and MTN to release the voice note of the conversation between the alleged suspects instead of threatening him with lawsuits, saying such will end up the matter.

In his handle @DavidHundeyin, he tweeted: “Instead of sending old policemen to fight with me on TV or threatening me with lawsuits, just authorise Airtel and MTN to release the voice note of the conversation between Frank Akpan and Kufre Effiong. Very simple and will end this controversy. No need for plenty talk.”
