ATTAH OCHINKE BEATS GOV. AYADE’S LECTURER, EMERGES CHAIRMAN NBA CALABAR BRANCH

Former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Cross River State, Barr. Attah Ochinke has emerged branch chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Calabar branch.

Ochinke defeated closest rival, University of Calabar Law lecturer, Prof. Jacob Abiodun Dada at the election held on Wednesday, 30th of June, 2021 at Danic Hotel, Calabar.

Barr. Attah Ochinke was Commissioner for Trade and Investment in the Donald Duke administration and served as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General during Sen. Liyel Imoke’s tenure.

The top lawyer, is known to be in opposition to Gov. Ben Ayade’s administration. In 2015, Ochinke turned down  Governor Ayade’s appointment as Special Adviser. He also moved against Ayade when he stood as the defence Counsel for journalist, Citizen Agba Jalingo during his trial.

It is believed that Gov. Ayade propped up Prof. Dada, who is currently his lecturer(the Gov. is doing a Master degree in Law) to run against Ochinke, but the former Attorney General gave his opponent a sound beating.
