While the Leopards had the better of the chances, South Africa’s goalie, Ronwen Williams stood strong in goal for Hugo Broos’s team, saving two penalties to earn Bafana Bafana their best result since 2000. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will be gunning for a fourth title today when they battle hosts, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire for the AFCON 2023 title. Nigeria last won the trophy 14 years ago in 2013.
