Former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Comrade Chris Akomas has declared interest to contest the governorship position of the state in the 2019 election. The former Abia number two man will be vying for the seat under the All Progressives Congress, APC.
At a recent meeting with stakeholders of the APC, from the 17 local government areas which held at his country home, Nenu in Obingwa Local Government Area, Akomas declared that he had a plan which will put Abia on the path of rapid development in his first term, if elected.
According to him, “There is an urgent need to make good things happen in Abia. And that cannot happen unless there is the passion, zeal, experience, knowledge, network, reach and where to go and what to do to make that happen. I’m a national political player, I have the experience and I know what to do and where to go, I know where to cut off to save money”.
Akomas, who is a member of the Board of Trustees of the APC, first ran for governor in 2011, under the Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, but lost to Governor Theodore Orji of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
