COVID-19: ACTRESS FUNKE AKINDELE, HUSBAND SENTENCED TO 14-DAY COMMUNITY SERVICE

Nollywood star actress, Funke Akindele-Bello and her husband, Abdul-Rasheed Bello (JJC), have been sentenced to 14-day community service for contravening the lockdown order in Lagos State.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr. Y.O. Aje –Afunwa. also directed them to pay a fine of N100,000 each.

They are to serve three hours per day excluding Saturday and Sunday.

They must each visit 10 public places to educate people on the consequences of not complying with directives on Coronavirus.

Akindele on Saturday organised a house party to celebrate her husband JJC’s birthday at her residence in Amen Estate Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos. The party is in contravention of the lockdown order of President Muhammadu Buhari and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on social distancing, which forbade a gathering of more than 20 people.

The Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyo Onigbanjo (SAN), who was the prosecutor, told the court that Funke and her husband, flouted the directive of the Lagos state Governor when they gathered more than 20 people at their Lekki home.

Funke and her husband were represented by their counsel, Abayomi Alagbada.
