
Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has returned to the state several weeks after he was flown to Abuja for treatment of the coronavirus disease.
He was sighted this evening in his hometown, Umuobiakwa in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.
The Governor who left the state in the first week of June, had made a dramatic announcement of his recovery when on Thursday July 2, 2020, he was caught on video, playing Table Tennis with his care givers.

The development sent wild jubilation across the state as Abians celebrated his recovery.
The celebrations were heightened the next day when Commissiiner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu broke the good news that Ikoeazu had tested negative to Covid-19.
Okiyi Kalu had stated, “To the glory of God, repeat COVID-19 test conducted by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on samples submitted by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Thursday, 2nd July, 2020, returned negative result on Friday, 3rd July, 2020.
“Governor Ikpeazu is therefore deemed free of the virus according to the extant guidelines of NCDC and the World Health Organization (WHO)”.
