GOVERNOR IKPEAZU CELEBRATES MAZI SAM OHUABUNWA AT 70

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has congratulated Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, OFR, MON, NPOM, on his 70th birthday, describing him as a shinning star and pride to the people of Abia State.

According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, Governor Ikpeazu recalls with pride, the huge strides made by Mazi Ohuabunwa who is the current President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in several areas of human endeavor and his uncountable contributions to professional development and community service.

In the words of Governor Ikpeazu, “Mazi Sam has, for more than three decades, made very powerful contributions to the development of the private sector of the Nigerian economy in different ways. From being one of the leading figures in the profession of pharmacy in Nigeria where he served as CEO of Neimeth Plc to serving at different times as the Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Ikeja Branch, President of the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA), President of the Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce, amongst others”.

Mazi Sam”, the Governor continues, “finds time out of his usually crowded corporate schedule and has served our country in many capacities including as Member of the Presidential Advisory Council and Member of the Presidential Council of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program (SURE -P)”. He is a double recipient of the National Honors of the Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) and Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) as well as the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM)”.

“Not forgetting home, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa also serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Abia State Public Private Partnership Investment Council. He had also served in the past as Chairman of the Boards of the Abia State Polytechnic and the Abia State University Teaching Hospital. He is also the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Gregory University, Uturu. He continues to show strong interest in the affairs of the government and people of Abia State”. The Governor added.

An indigene of the ancient town of Arochukwu, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa is a Fellow of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Pharmacists, Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Pharmacy, Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Management, Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, amongst others.

The Governor, on behalf of his family, Government and People of Abia State wishes Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa a happy 70th birthday and prays the Almighty God to grant him many more years of service to the people of Abia State, Nigeria and to humanity.
