IKPEAZU COMMISSIONS FIRST PHASE OF 5KM UMUOBIAKWA-OWO AHIAFOR-ONICHA NGWA ROAD

The first phase of the newly constructed 5 kilometre Umuobiakwa-Owo Ahiafor road in Obingwa Local Government Area has been officially commissioned by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP Senator Walid Jibrin.

Speaking at the event which is in continuation of his ‘Kinetic Abia‘ Project Inspection and Commissioning Programme, Dr. Ikpeazu said the road is a strategic economic road which connects to legendary Onicha Ngwa Hospital and leads also to Akwa Ibom State. He said the benefiting communities would for the first time in its history find an access road to Aba and Umuahia.

Governor Ikpeazu charged the people to protect the road by ensuring that no bonfire is set on the road and that the drainages are always clean. He said commissioning of roads will continue until his last day in office, saying that he is in government to affect lives positively and thanked the State House of Assembly for the solid support given to him to perform.

The Governor used the opportunity to restate his commitment to the PDP and said that he will henceforth cease from addressing the issue of defection.

The Governor equally informed the teeming crowd at the event that the reason for launching and enrolling into the Abia State Social Identity Number Scheme is to generate data for proper planning and distribution of resources. He said he equally embarked on capacity building in the State hence, he sent the first batch of students on scholarship to overseas in spite of the economic crunch globally.

Commissioning the road, the Chairman, PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin commended Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for his good leadership style which has made Abia State the most peaceful State in Nigeria, accommodating people from all tribes in the country. He expressed joy that having toured Aba and saw the infrastructural developments in the State “what I saw is a proof that Governor Ikpeazu is a progressive Governor”.

Also, the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Chinedum Orji and Member representing Obingwa East, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu thanked the Governor for remembering his people as the road will add economic and social values to the State and urged the people to continue to support the Governor while describing the road as strategic as it leads to Onicha Ngwa General Hospital and other link roads. They assured that the House will continue to support the Governor

Contributing, the Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Ogu described the road as a very important road disclosing that the first 5 kilometres done already is a proof of Governor’s commitment to the people. He informed that the road will last for a minimum of 25 years and urged the beneficiaries to protect the roads, which he said is a link road.

Also, the PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Asiforo Okere and one of the members of the benefiting community and a former Executive Chairman of Obingwa LGA , Chief Isaac Ogbonna said the PDP and people of Obingwa are proud of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, adding that electing Governor Ikpeazu was not a wrong option. They prayed God to bless him.

Earlier in an address the Executive Chairman, Obingwa LGA, Mr. Michael Ibe said commissioning of projects has become a common thing under Ikpeazu as he has been consistent in commissioning roads saying that they are proud of Governor Ikpeazu.

Members of the PDP Board of Trustees from different parts of the country, members of the State House of Assembly, Secretary to Government and members of the State Executive Council, Local Government Chairmen, party faithful and other citizens witnessed the event.
