Festival organiser and celebrated filmmaker, Mr. Madu C. Chikwendu, has been elected as the new Secretary General of the International Federation of African Audiovisual Professionals, IFAAP.
Madu Chikwendu, a former President of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP, was elected by the body at their annual conference in Accra, Ghana on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Chikwendu said IFAAP, “has emerged as the authentic voice of African cinema professionals and will focus on highly constructive engagement with stakeholders and partners and support the AU to ensure the speedy operationalization of African Audiovisual and Cinema Commission and African Film Fund.
He also stated that the body, shall engage in “Multiple and multi layered engagements with Inter Governmental, Non Governmental, Regional, National and Sub National institutions.”
The new General Secretary said ongoing financial interventions shall be vigorously interrogated as IFAAP will provide strategic support for distribution initiatives in a bid to encourage investments.
Mr. Chikwendu also said that “the global fight against piracy will receive incremental support just as integration and cooperation via co-productions will remain a cardinal goal.”
