The Coroner Inquest set up to ascertain the cause of death of Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year-old Chrisland School pupil, who died on February 9, has fixed April 4 for commencement of hearing. Magistrate Olabisi Fajana fixed the date after entertaining submissions of all counsel, who appeared before the Court sitting in Ikeja Magistrates Court. No fewer than 61 persons were said to have died from the outbreak of diphtheria in Kano State. Salma Suwaid, Kano Diphtheria Case Manager, spoke, yesterday, at a webinar organised by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, with the theme “Diptheria outbreak in Nigeria: Vaccination Response.” Diphtheria is a bacterial infection caused by the corynebacterium species that affect the nose, throat, and sometimes, skin of an individual.
