The World Football Governing body FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have approved the appointment of AbdulHakeem Uthman Mustapha, SAN, as the head of the Normalisation Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The Committee which includes Mr. Chris Green, a former board member of the NFF and chairman of Rivers United, is expected to conduct fresh elections into the board of the NFF.
It will be recalled that the board of the NFF was dissolved few months ago after mass resignation of members led by the former president Mr. Ibrahim Musa Gusau, opening the door for the setting up of a Normalisation Committee that will run the country’s football until next year.
Mustapha is a member of FIFA’s Anti-Racism and Anti-Discrimination Committee, a position that gives him direct exposure to the global football governing body and its administrative framework.
He also previously served as President of the CAF Appeal Committee, placing him among Nigerians with substantial experience in African football’s legal and judicial structures.
