The family of top Anambra State politician and billionaire businessman, Sen. Annie Okonkwo, have picked Wednesday August 30, 2023, for his burial.
Sen. Annie Okonwko popularly known by his title, ‘Agunechemba’, died in a United States of America hospital on June 7 after a protracted illness. He was aged 63.
Sen. Okonkwo who represented Anambra Central senatorial zone in the Senate(2007-2011), will be buried at his Agunechemba country home, Iruebenebe, Ndiabor village in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government area of Anambra State.
A funeral programme sighted by thebladengr.com, and signed by his son Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, said the funeral rites will commence on Thursday August , 18, 2023 with a Wake and Prayerful Service at the Harbour Point, Victoria Island Lagos.
This will be followed by a Requiem Mass at the Church of Assumption, Falomo, Ikoyi-Lagos on Monday August 21, 2023.
Thereafter, events will move to his hometown Ojoto where a Vigil Mass will hold on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
Senator Annie Okonkwo’s remains will be interned at his Agunechemba country home, Ojoto after a funeral service on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
