VETERAN JOURNALIST, CHIEF SAMPSON AMAKU DIES AT 86

Veteran journalist and prolific writer, Chief Sampson Amaku, is dead.

His death was conveyed in a brief obituary to members of IZUNWANNE-the prestigious forum of practicing and former South East Journalists on Thursday by one of its coordinators.

From Isiala Mbano, in Imo State, Chief Amaku reportedly died on June 10, 2024 in Enugu.

Chief Amaku, was a one time City Editor of Daily Times in the 1970s and State Chairman of the NUJ in the then East Central State. Amaku was also a former Chief Press Secretary to the former governor of the old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo.

Popularly known by the moniker, Uncle SamPen, he was also a former General Manager of the Daily Star newspaper.

Till his death, he lived in Enugu, and was a staunch member of the Anglican Church, Emmanuel Church, Achara Lay-out, Enugu. He was aged, 86 years.
