Delta State Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads) Comrade Reuben Izeze was yesterday bestowed with a certificate of excellence in public service by The Pointer Newspapers.
The award which was presented to Izeze at the 30th Anniversary of The Pointer Newspaper held at Grand Hotel and Resorts, Asaba was in recognition of his outstanding contributions and relentless services to humanity and society in Delta State and Nigeria.
Presenting the award to Izeze’s representative, Engr. Stephen Dorume, the Desert Warrior, Dr. Newton Jibunoh, congratulated the ex-lamaker on his recognition and urged him to see the honour as an encouragement for greater public service.
Reacting to the development, Comrade Izeze thanked The Pointer newspaper for the recognition assuring that he would continue to work for the good of the public and humanity.
He appreciated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the opportunity to serve as Commissioner and member of the State Executive Council adding that he would always at all times work for the growth and development of the state in line with the Governor’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
Comrade Izeze, who hitherto had a notorious reputation for rejecting or avoiding awards by different groups/organisations on the ground that he hasn’t done anything extraordinary to merit any award.
He believes that whoever thinks he has done well in any office should wait until he has left the office before nominating him for any awards.
He however accepted this particular one because it came from home and since he had become the the opposite of the Biblical proverbial Prophet who has no honour at home.
“This special award is dedicated to God and humanity and my appreciation to all my bosses who have given me the platform to serve humanity.
“From H.E. Chief James Ibori; H.E. Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, CON, the good people of Ughelli South State Constituency, and of course H.E. Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori without whom there wouldn’t have been this honour.”
