COSON WEEK 2025: MASSIVE MOBILIZATION BEGINS

Wall-to-wall mobilization has begun for the master-blaster “COSON WEEK 2025” set to hold Nigerians spell bound with seven explosive back–to–back events, staged at seven key venues, across Lagos, over a seven-day period, from May 25 to May 31, 2025.

The beginning of the massive mobilization was announced by Chief Tony Okoroji, Chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), the nation’s biggest copyright collective management organization, at the magnificent COSON House in Ikeja, as Chief Okoroji was in one day, presented with two significant awards, for his dazzling and unmatched leadership of the Nigerian creative industry.

Chief Okoroji said that the spectacular events of “COSON Week 2025” are driven by a strong belief that Nigerian entertainers from every tribe, with their millions of fans, have a key role to play in stabilizing the nation, and healing the wounds that threaten the unity and development of Nigeria, thereby giving optimism and courage to the Nigerian people, at a time of severe national challenges.

Announcing that the mantra for COSON Week 2025 is: “NIGERIA WILL RISE AGAIN!” Chief Okoroji said: “We are determined to show that despite our challenges, we will move ahead and build a nation where every child has the promise of a future”.

Chief Tony Okoroji, Nigeria’s undisputed master of spectacular events, said that to meet the important national objective, COSON, with its thousands of members across Nigeria, is rallying support to storm Lagos, the nation’s undisputed entertainment capital, in May, for a set of events he says will be “stupendous”.

The continent’s longest and best-known fighter for the rights of creative people, went further to announce that the events “COSON Week 2025”
will equally be used to raise badly needed funds for the COSON Music Foundation, set up to aid old or sick musicians and musicians in distress.

It will be recalled that the Board of Copyright Society of Nigeria, on November 6, 2024, rose from a power-packed meeting in Lagos and approved the hosting of a master-blaster edition of the iconic “COSON Week”, in May 2025. The Board, on that day, directed that every step be taken to ensure the mobilization of all “mobilizables” so that COSON WEEK 2025 is, in every way, unforgettable.

Reacting to the two awards presented to him in one day – the Culturegate Africa’s “African Hall of Fame Awards”, and the Labour Research and Training Services’ “Gbedu Awards”, Chief Okoroji said: “I appreciate the awards but the awards are really not for me but for Nigeria’s many talented musicians, actors, songwriters, script writers, producers, directors, fashion designers, content creators and several others, who under difficult circumstances, are providing jobs for themselves and turning the Nigerian creative industry into one of the most vibrant in the world. I doff my hat for all of them”.
