WIKE HAILS GOV ENO’S VISIONARY LEADERSHIP, DEVELOPMENT STRIDES IN AKWA IBOM

COMMISSIONS 17.33KM ROAD IN IKA LGA

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno’s remarkable leadership and development achievements, highlighted by the commissioning of 17.33 kilometres of road in Ika Local Government Area as part of activities marking the state’s 38th anniversary celebrations.

At the commissioning of the 15.8km Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini Road, and 1.53km Internal Roads in Ikot Udom, Ika Local Government Area, Minister Wike described Governor Eno as a man of exceptional humility, sincerity, and honour.

“What I have seen today in Akwa Ibom State is not about 3D, but reality –what we call development.

“And you know, I have always associated myself with those who mean well for their people. Your Governor has greatly shown the love that he has for the people of Akwa Ibom State,” Wike stated.

He urged Akwa Ibom people to continue to live in unity and support the State Government, in order for development, growth, and progress to thrive in the State.

Governor Eno appreciated Barr. Wike for creating time to be part of the commissioning, and described him as a great son of the Niger Delta whom the State was proud of.

The Governor disclosed that the Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini Road in Ika is actually 15.8km, but that his administration constructed an extension of 3.5km into Azumini in Abia State.

He noted that the presence of Wike, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, alongside other members of the party, to commission a road project done by a State controlled by the All Progressives Congress, underscores the spirit of unity prevalent in the State.

“In Akwa Ibom State, we are Akwa Ibom united –united to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term because of his remarkable work to stabilize the economy by availing us funds to develop our various States,” he said.

Governor Eno highlighted that the newly-commissioned 15.8km road opens Ika to commercial opportunities as it provides a seamless link to the commercial nerve centre of the South-East, Aba, in Abia State.

“However, the other 1.53km internal road is a fulfillment of the promise that I made to the Hon. Minister of Petroleum (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, last year, and to also help our people living there to have good access road to do their businesses,” he added.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, Barr. Utibe Nwoko, commended Governor Eno for delivering the road project, describing it as historic and heartwarming to his people who have for the first time witnessed a tarred road in the area.

He described the project as not just a road, but a connectivity with innumerable economic benefits.

On their parts, the Minister of Petroleum (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko SAN, eulogized Governor Eno for giving the people of the area a sense of belonging through the provision of the modern access roads.

To witness the ceremony were past leaders of the State, the State Deputy Governor, Senator Dr Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, the Mayor of Islington, Jason Utitofon Jackson, members of the State’s Executive Council; Stalwarts of political parties, captains of industry, and the general public.
