World football ruling body, FIFA will deliver its verdict on Nigeria’s eligibility protest against DR Congo today, Monday, 16 February, 2026.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), last December, had petitioned FIFA, claiming that at least six DR Congo players who featured in the African playoff final in November 2025 were not eligible because they recently changed their nationalities.
The Super Eagles lost the match 3-4 on penalties after it ended 1-1 in regulation time.
If FIFA rules in support of Nigeria, the Super Eagles will be allowed to take part in the intercontinental play-off tournament, which will take place in March in Mexico.
