Former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has won the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes to beat his closest rival, a former Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 504,117 votes.
Former Managing Director of the defunct FSB International Bank, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, got 177,120 votes.
It will be recalled that last Sunday, another faction of the ADC elected by consensus its 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Dumebi Kachickwu, to fly its flag again in 2027.
It can also be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission has recognised the David Mark-led faction of the ADC, although the party is still in court over which faction is the authentic leadership.
