The Ngwa National Association, USA Inc. (NNAUSA) has officially opened applications for the 2026 cohort of its flagship Ngwa Apprenticeship and Skills Acquisition Program (NASAB).
With this scheme, the association led by Dr. Ugochukwu Agu, aims to empower young people through targeted skills development. “The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between ambition and opportunity by providing practical training that leads to sustainable entrepreneurship”.
The six-month apprenticeship program is structured to deliver hands-on experience, technical know-how, and ongoing mentorship to selected participants as successful candidates will be attached to well-established businesses where they can gain real-world exposure and build the foundation needed to launch and grow their own enterprises. NNAUSA described the program as a comprehensive support system designed to foster self-reliance among youths.
The announcement signed by NASAB Chairman Mr. Okeorji Okezie and Secretary Mrs. Ozioma Ananaba, said participants will receive training across four critical sectors: Technology, Culinary Arts (Catering Services), Building, and Fashion Design.
These areas according to NNAUSA, were chosen for their high potential for job creation and economic impact within the Ukwa-Ngwa community. The program emphasizes both skill acquisition and business management, equipping apprentices with tools to thrive in competitive markets.
The application window opened on June 1, 2026, and will remain open until July 31, 2026. Interested candidates can apply online by visiting the official NNAUSA website at www.nnausa.org, navigating to the Scholarships section, and selecting NASAB to create an account and submit their details. Alternatively, applications can be submitted directly through the dedicated NASAB portal at www.nnausaskills.org.
Eligibility is restricted to indigenous youths of Ukwa and Ngwa extraction who are between 18 and 35 years old. NNAUSA stressed that the program is exclusively for qualified applicants from these communities, reinforcing its commitment to targeted youth empowerment and community development.
